Frequently asked questions
JPG and WebP images often shrink by 30–70% at the Balanced setting. PNG uses lossless compression, so reductions are typically much smaller — sometimes only a few percent.
PNG compression is lossless: every pixel must be preserved, so there is less room to save. For big reductions on photos, convert the PNG to JPG first with our PNG to JPG tool.
For JPG and WebP, stronger compression trades a little quality for a smaller file — at the Balanced level the difference is usually invisible. PNG compression never affects quality.
If compressing would make the file bigger, we simply return your original file and tell you — you will never receive a larger file than you uploaded.
Your image is processed in memory on our server and the result is deleted as soon as you download it. We do not keep or share your files.
